英语语法：long
1. It句型和long before
It was long before… 过了很久后才
It will be long before…还要过很久才会
It wasn’t long before… 没过多久就
It won’t be long before…过不了多久就会
It wasn't long before she was adapted to the life as a housewife.
没过太久她就适应了做家庭主妇的生活。
It will be long before a new idea is fully accepted．
一个新思想要等待多年以后才能被人们完全接受。
It won't be long before we work out some plans to promote our sales．
用不了多久以后我们就会拿出促销计划。
2. long before在……很早前（后面可接句子或词组）I knew her long before she became famous.
早在她成名前我就认识她了。
3. long since从前、早就（相当于一个时间副词，插在谓语中）
He has long since given up mountain climbing.
他早就放弃爬山了。
The time for negotiations has long since passed.
谈判的时机早就过去了。
4. long after很久后（后面可接句子或词组）
I was born long after my parents got married.
我父母结婚后很久才生下我。
Many of these poets appeared in print only long after their deaths.
这些诗人中有很多都是在去世很久以后作品才得以发表的。
英语语法：Only
1. 不定式和Only
（1）only to do：除了“仅仅为了”，更多时候表示意想不到的相反结果“结果却 ……”
I tore open the box,only to discover that some of the parts were missing.
（我撕开盒子，结果却发现有些零件已经丢失了。）
（2）only修饰的名词，表示“独一无二”的意义，后面常接不定式做定语。
2. 定语从句和Only ：先行词前有only、just、merely等强调“独一无二”的意思，同条件下的关系词只用who（人）或that（物）。
The only people who understand the problem are the scientists.
The only thing （that）we can do is （to）wait and see.
This is the only book that can be lent to you.
3. 倒装句和Only：强调句中主语之外的成分，置于句首，句子采用部分倒装结构。
Only in this house do I feel safe and secure.
（强调地点介词词组：只有在这间房子里我才感到安全。）
Only when you fully understand the text itself can you comment on it.
（强调状语从句：只有你充分理解了文本本身你才能评论它。）
4. 冠词和Only（形容词）
（1）作为形容词一般要加定冠词或其他限定词，表示“唯一的、仅有的”：
the only child（唯一的一个孩子）
（2）加不定冠词，表示“一个独一无二的”：
an only child（一个独生子）
（3）加定冠词和复数名词：
the only people（唯一的一些人）；
the only two（仅有的两个）
5. 与其他词构成的连词
If only：但愿；如果……就好了（常见于虚拟语气）
If only the weather were finer!
Only if：只有在……条件下（使用倒装）
Only if the prisoners are released are they ready to stop fighting.
Not only…but also…：不仅……而且……（如Not only在句首，其后的句子要倒装）
Not only did he speak more correctly, but also he spoke more easily.
